Road To GM 2
Analyzing how I win and lose
In an effort to be more conscious of my strengths and weaknesses I scraped my games and used some rudimentary data analysis to better understand my profile as a player. Here are some of my findings.
Whole games
it turns out across my whole 6 year account, I have won 0.9% more games than I lost. I won 57 games more than I lost. Thats all it takes to grow apparently. but if i want to grow faster id like that to increase that gap.
I win 31% of my games by checkmate and about 60% by resignation. I lose just under 20% of my games to checkmate and a whopping 78% to resignation. according to the chess.com public data, I am 7% more likely to win by checkmate and 11% more likely to lose by resignation. this might point to an issue of early resignation but to really be sure I must check different time windows right now i using a collection of all the data.
Openings
According to the data, I have a fantastic edge from the opening in a variety of openings. across e4 as a whole I have between a 5 and 15% edge excluding the caro kann and the french.
With black I have a 5% edge playing the caro kann and between a 4 and 10% edge playing any d4 positions. I also have a 17% deficiency playing the sicilian. which means i should probably stop doing that.
Tactics
here comes the tricky part
Conclusion and Next Steps
I think that a lot of these statistics might lag behind whats actually happening.
